And Bells Do Ring…

$5 – $15Annapolis Voices is excited to continue celebrating Canada’s choral diversity with the performance of David Ouchterlony’s “Carol Cantata”. This compilation of carols comes from many countries and will be introduced by narrations in the native languages. As musicians, we are grateful to have the opportunity to bring the multi-culturalism perspective to the forefront.
Two contemporary compositions, John Rutter’s “Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind” and Paul Ayres’ “The Isle is Full of Noises” use Shakespearean texts. Both these selections exhibit the distinctively remarkable styles of each composer, often making you feel that you are transported into a different space.
Mack Wilberg’s “Ding! dong! merrily on high” and Stuart Thompson’s award- winning arrangement of “The holly and the ivy” bring new energy to traditional festive tunes.
The children of Annapolis Treble Makers will sing “Gloria, Gloria, Gloria Deo” and “The Gentle Donkey” in our Carol Cantata. “Our Hearts Be Joyful” by J.S.Bach, arranged by John Burke, and “The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy” arranged by Hal Hopson will be an uplifting addition to our program. The older girls’ rendition of the Kirby Shaw arrangement of “Sisters” from “White Christmas” is sure to delight.
