Musique Royale: And So It Goes

August 20, 2019 - August 24, 2019

$25

Dynamo baritone Brett Polegato joins major collaborative pianist Robert Kortgaard to present a heartfelt peppering of songs from Cole Porter, Rogers & Hammerstein and Billy Joel with selections from hit musicals like Sweeney Todd, Les Mis, and Carousel. The duo will perform across Nova Scotia in six beautiful and historic venues: Parrsboro, Halifax, Tusket, Bridgetown and Mahone Bay.

About Brett Polegato
Brett Polegato’s artistic sensibility has earned him the highest praise from audiences and critics: “his is a serious and seductive voice” says The Globe and Mail, and The New York Times has praised him for his “burnished, well-focused voice” which he uses with “considerable intelligence and nuance.” He appears regularly on the world’s most distinguished stages including those of Lincoln Center, La Scala, the Concertgebouw, the Opéra National de Paris, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, the Teatro Real, Roy Thomson Hall, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall, and has collaborated with conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniele Gatti, Andris Nelsons, Bernard Haitink, Seiji Ozawa, Jeffrey Tate, Marc Minkowski, and Martyn Brabbins. He can be heard as soloist in the Grammy Awards’ Best Classical Recording of 2003 – Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony (Telarc) with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Robert Spano.

Since 1985 Musique Royale presents a province-wide Summer Festival, touring incredible musicians to some of the provinces most far off and precious venues. In store for 2019 is emerging artists Aureas Voces presenting romantic early music, Bach and Vivaldi Sonatas with violinist Mark Fewer and harpsichordist Hank Knox, The Best of Boxwood’s annual salute to the Canadian Maritimes music, heartfelt And So It Goes with baritone Brett Polegato, flashy artistry on the violin and keys with Two David’s, and Pres du Soleil with Montreal’s Ensemble Caprice and Constantinople.
