Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit de Noel reading
Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 7pm
St. George’s Round Church, 2222 Brunswick Street, Halifax
The annual reading of Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit (1690), an EMSNS holiday tradition, returns this year on Wednesday, December 28. Andrew Pickett, countertenor, Early Music expert, and former president of the Early Music Society of Nova Scotia, will conduct.
Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643 – 1704) was a prolific and celebrated French composer of the Baroque era, who brought Italian influences to bear on French music and who collaborated with Molière on the Parisian stage.
The Messe de Minuit reading is free for EMSNS members. Non-members are welcome by donation.
