VOICE MALE – a workshop for male voice choirs and singers

CALLING ALL MEN! Presented by Nova Voce in cooperation with the Nova Scotia Choral Federation, Voice Male is a workshop for changed male voices. It is an opportunity to learn, have fun and sing with a larger male chorus! The workshop will be followed by a concert featuring Nova Voce, guest choirs, and a massed choir sing. Join us for a day of music for men!

Fee:
Choir – $200
Member of a registered choir – $55

Student: $35

Come Solo (choir not registered) – $65

Guest Conductor, Dr. Mark Sirett

Conductor, composer, pianist, organist and educator, Mark Sirett is a native of Kingston ON and holds both Masters and doctoral degrees in choral conducting from the University of Iowa. He has taught at the University of Alberta, Western University and Queen’s University.

He is Founding Artistic Director of the Cantabile Choirs of Kingston, an award-winning multi-choir educational program consisting of seven choirs and almost three hundred singers. Choirs under his direction have been recognized at the national and international level for artistry and creative programming. He has directed honors’ choirs in Nova Scotia, Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, USA, Luxembourg and South Korea.

Dr. Sirett is recipient of two international awards in conducting: International Jury Award, Cork International Choral Festival, Ireland and Outstanding Conductor at the Young Prague Festival. He is recipient of the President’s Leadership Award—Choirs Ontario, Mayor’s Arts Award—City of Kingston and, on two occasions, Outstanding Composition from Choral Canada.

Mark’s choral compositions and arrangements have been commissioned, performed and recorded by leading ensembles, including Chanticleer, VocalEssence, Elora Singers, National Youth Choir of Canada and Koelner Kantorei to name a few. He is frequently in demand as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator.
