On September 9, 2023 from 1:00 – 2:00pm, shake the summer dust off your voices at this free workshop led by Chris Bowman and his choir, Cantabile Singers of Truro, who will help us with some vocal technique followed by learning a piece from the Robbie Songs Project. You will then have the opportunity to join the 30 members of Cantabile on stage at the Ancient River Festival to perform their final number. This festival in Robbie Smith’s hometown, was created after his death and named after one of his songs.
Cantabile begins their 45 minute set of Robbie Songs at 4pm; the finale being performed at approximately 4:40pm.
Come have some fun, learn a bit about your voice, meet the arranger of “The Last Song”, and sing/experience some great music!
REGISTER HERE to guarantee your spot and to give you access to the music and learning tracks.
If you’re curious about “The Last Song”, you can view the score and listen to a studio recording HERE.
We want you to participate at your comfort level. Although this is an easy piece to learn, if you would just like to perform the choruses only, that is an option.
This event is made possible through the Shelburne County Arts Council with support from The Osprey Performing Arts Center, Robbie Songs Project and the Nova Scotia Choral Federation.
The Robbie Songs Project is a joint collaboration between the NSCF and Kathleen Glauser who was Robbie’s singing partner for 11 years. Its goal is to fulfill Robbie’s last wishes to have his music live on.
