Colchester to the Rescue

$5 – $17On Saturday, October 28, 7:00 p.m., the Cantabile Singers and Cantabile Boys’ Choir will open our 2017-2018 season with a special concert marking the 100th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion. This show, entitled “Colchester to the Rescue”, will tell the forgotten stories of how the people of Truro and of Colchester County responded so generously and selflessly in the aftermath of the December 6, 1917 disaster. This concert, featuring songs, stories, and images, is being offered in collaboration with the Colchester Historeum and takes place at First United Church, 711 Prince Street, Truro. Tickets are $17 general, $5 students (12 and under free) and are available from the First United Church office, MacQuarries (Esplanade), from choir members, and at the door.
Artistic Director Chris Bowman says “This is going to be a very powerful event, unlike anything we have done before. The combination of photos, historical documents, story-telling and some incredibly beautiful and poignant music will make for a very special evening. The choir has become swept up in the emotion of the story during our rehearsal process, and I have little doubt that the audience will find this equally engaging”.
Cantabile hopes you are able to come and share in this concert, which will provide an opportunity to remember an important anniversary in our history through story and song.
