Morten Lauridsen: Les Chansons des Roses – the Music of Morten Lauridsen
American choral composer Morten Lauridsen composed his 5-movement set “Les Chansons des Roses” in 1993. All movements are settings of poetry by the Bohemian-Austrian poet and novelist Rainer Maria Rilke.
The choir will also perform music by J.S. Bach (“Lobet den Herrn”), Vaughan Williams (“O Clap Your Hands”), Elgar (“Ave Verum”), and others. Our performance on December 9 will feature soloist Patrick Simms (tenor), and the Halifax Boys Honour Choir, conducted by Pamela Burton. Tara Scott is the accompanist for Dalhousie Collegium Cantorum, and the performance will be conducted by Gary Ewer.
