Choirs for Change is thrilled to announce a performance by the Eastern Horizon Chamber Choir!
Eastern Horizon is an intensive and high-level choral ensemble led by Jack Bennet and Christina Murray. Eastern Horizon will be presenting a performance of music by composers from marginalized identities – individuals whose identities have long been and continue to be underrepresented in the choral canon. Eastern Horizon will premiere three new works by composers who have been shortlisted as finalists in the Eastern Horizon Choral Writing Competition. The finalists for the choral writing competition have been selected by a judging panel including Choirs for Change leadership, choir representatives, and community members. The finalists are (in alphabetical order): Julijana Hajdinjak (ON), Ryan Henwood (NS), and Marie-Claire Saindon (QC). This performance will be repeated in Lunenburg on June 15th, and at the Halifax performance awards will be given to the first and second place finalists.
In addition to these new works, the choir will also perform selections from Meredith Monk, Andrew Balfour, Caroline Shaw, Ko Matsushita, and Stuart Beatch.
We hope you join us for this exciting and high-level concert!
