Musique Royale invites you to hear “Imaginary Gardens”, a beautiful, new program from The Aeolian Singers, highlighting songs of shelter and strength. Led by artistic director Heather Fraser, “Imaginary Gardens” brings together texts that speak of the importance of having a safe place to call home. Bringing awareness to the housing crisis in our own province, along with the rising rates of domestic abuse, the concert celebrates the strength and perseverance of women, both at home and abroad, who are running from danger with dreams for a better future.
The repertoire selected focuses on hopefulness, expresses words of support and comfort. Songs are accessible for all and deeply heartfelt, featuring music by Canadian female composers Shireen Abu-Khader, Marie-Claire Saindon and Katerina Gimon, Steven Smith, Moira Smiley, The Wailin’ Jennys, Dolly Parton, and even a little Paul Simon. Join Musique Royale Sunday May 1 at 4 pm, at Central United Church in Lunenburg, as we are uplifted by the action of vocal music in harmony.
