Mothers’ Day! The South Shore Chorale in collaboration with Mary Knickle and Lunenburg Trio Mirth are paying tribute to Mothers and Caregivers with a carefully curated program by our Director Amelia McMahon at two afternoon concerts May 13th and 14th.
The repertoire will celebrate the many faces of ‘Motherhood’ from wonder and awe (Tabula Rasa-Blank Slate), strength and compassion with Canadian icon Nathanial Dett’s beautiful “Ave Maria”and resilience with Victor Hugo’s poem (Be Like a Bird) set to music by Abbie Betinis ; a special newly published piece ‘Sorrow into Song ‘ by Christine Donkin pays tribute to her mother who had Dementia.
Also, adoption, love and memories of our mothers will weave a tapestry of images through three marvelous arrangements by Mary Knickle ( a well-known Nova Scotian/Lunenburg Composer)as we partner with Mirth. We look forward to premiering these pieces.
Sharon Gow Knickle our Pianist completes our cast for this musical tribute.
