Dartmouth Choral Society’s (DCS) annual Christmas concert, Rejoicing, Then and Now, takes concert-goers on a seasonal journey through the years in song and story.
The choir’s voices blend with woodwinds, strings, and piano on traditional pieces like In Dulci Jubilo, as well as on more modern choral arrangements, including a medley of Irving Berlin Christmas classics, and Rita MacNeil’s, This Season Will Never Grow Old. Dartmouth Choral Society’s own Elinor Benjamin, soprano and storyteller, narrates composer/arranger John Rutter’s Brother Heinrich’s Christmas.
DCS also features some fantastic local musical talent of the instrumental kind in this year’s concert, and is thrilled to welcome guest musicians: Nina Woulff, oboe; Kristin Bieber Domm, bassoon; Hilary Brown, cello; and, Celeste Jankowski and Sean Sneddon, violin.
Speaking of local talent, DCS is also “auditioning” new members during its mid-concert carol sing, and is asking attendees to please warm up before the show!
From the old to the new, this season’s concert celebrates peace, winter (if such a thing is possible!), the joy of Christmas, and the goodwill and sense of community of the holiday season!
Admission is $15. Tickets can be purchased from Dartmouth Choral Society members, at the door, and online at Eventbrite at
