On Friday, December 2, the Acadia University Singers will a present a concert titled “Sing, My Child!: Songs of Hope, Peace, Love & Joy” at St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg. Inspired by the Advent practice of lighting four candles symbolizing hope, peace, love and joy, this concert will feature uplifting choral music – ranging from reflective Renaissance polyphony to lively traditional folk music – centered on those four themes. This diverse and multicultural program will bring together music celebrating Advent, Christmas, the Winter Solstice and more, and will challenge the choir to sing in five different languages (English, Latin, Malaysian, Yoruba, and Zulu). The Acadia University Singers are a 20-voice chamber choir comprised of music students from the Acadia School of Music’s Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Therapy programs as well as alumni and community members. The concert begins at 7:00pm. Admission is by freewill donation at the door.
