Celebrate Singing! Choral opportunity for young singers!

Celebrate Singing!

Announcing a new choral opportunity for young singers in Halifax, aged 7-10 years. In the beautiful acoustics of First Baptist Church, Halifax, Krista Vincent and Lynette Wahlstrom are launching a pilot project for this June, with the goal to continue in September.

This community project is unauditioned and intended to give students a quality singing experience in a positive environment. We will work to build a program of comprehensive choral music education, teaching skills in singing, ear training, and solfege, as well ensemble music making and community building.

CCNS Thank You

From April 5 to 7, over one hundred children between the ages of 9 and 14, came together for a weekend of singing. Working with Conductor Kellie Walsh, the young choristers tackled challenging repertoire, learned to hone their musical skills, and maintained incredible focus. The weekend culminated in a sold out concert on Sunday, April 7 at the  First United Church in Truro.

The Nova Scotia Choral Federation wishes to thank their amazing team of staff, volunteers, and teachers who made this event a reality for so many children. We would particularly like to thank our amazing conductor, Kellie Wash, accompanist Bette Pring, and our programs assistant, Ryan Henwood, for their tireless work on the project. But most of all, a big thank you to all of the talented singers who took part!

Nova Scotia Choral Federation Needs Your Support

Throughout 2018, we continued to foster a vibrant and inclusive choral community by providing resources, creating opportunities, and engaging Nova Scotia’s diverse population in the transformative power of choral music. Once again, we were able to present our annual programs: Sing Summer including Adult, Junior and Youth Choir Camps and two opportunities for conductor training through our Choral Conducting Apprenticeship and Choral Conducting Workshop, Children’s Chorus of Nova Scotia, Juvenata, PerformNS! (school workshops and performances), and the Nova Scotia Youth Choir as well as support for seven young singers from Nova Scotia to take part in 2018 National Youth Choir of Canada. These programs and opportunities bring together choristers of all ages from across the province, allowing us to provide services for thousands of choristers whilst investing in the next generation of choral enthusiasts.

The Nova Scotia Choral Federation needs your support to help us increase our outreach to Nova Scotia’s choral community. We count on your help to raise the quality and profile of choral music, strengthen the capacity of choirs and choristers to achieve their full potential, and engage more Nova Scotians in choral singing. Choral music enriches our lives and our ability to strengthen our choral community depends on choral music-lovers like you. If you have not had a chance to support Nova Scotia Choral Federation this year, please consider helping with your expertise, volunteering your time or making a financial contribution today.

To volunteer, please get in touch with us at nscfadmin@nscf.ca.
